The primary purpose of the DSU is to cater specifically to the needs of students, staffs and visitors with disabilities at IIUM. Working closely with the Welfare Unit of STADD, the Development Division, the MSD and all other kulliyyahs, DSU is responsible in ensuring that disabled students and staff will get full access and support to the teaching and learning system, work environment and campus life. It also creates disabledfriendly environment and services so that the rights of the persons with disabilities will be protected. Its services include making arrangements for special accommodation, providing accessible transport services (i.e. wheelchair), assisting for financial aid of assistive devices and upgrading the University facilities to meet the needs of the students/staff with disabilities.
